Oral Cancer & Overall Wellness - Tips & Tricks for Staying Well

Course Description:  van arsdall cardIn this course, state and county level statistics will be shared about oral cancer rates in Louisiana. The most common signs and symptoms of oral cancer will be outlined as well as the most common risk factors and ways to mitigate risk factors. Participants will learn to perform the oral cancer screening approved by the American Dental Association. In the second half of this course, practical strategies will be provided for overall wellness including healthy eating, exercise, adequate sleep, and stress reduction. 

Learning Objectives:

  1. List the primary risk factors for oral cancer and ways to mitigate risk.
  2. Describe the most common signs and symptoms of oral cancer.
  3. Be able to conduct an appropriate oral cancer screening exam.
  4. List three practical strategies to improve eating habits, exercise routine, sleep and stress levels.
