Jacob Dent, DDS -- New speaker to our conference
A graduate of LSU School of Dentistry, Dr. Jacob Dent has been practicing dentistry since 2003. Originally from Louisiana, he moved to Texas in 2006 after Hurricane Rita destroyed his practice. In 2006, his son was diagnosed with Autism. Since then, he has been an advocate for patients and families with special needs of all kinds. His goal is to train and educate as many families and health care providers as possible on caring for those with special needs in order to increase and improve dental care for this growing population. In 2011, he partnered with PDS to open his first office in Texas and in 2015, he opened his first office back in Louisiana. In June 2016, with the support of the Pacific Dental Services Foundation, he remodeled half of his dental practice to be sensory-friendly and provide a state-of-the-art treatment facility for those with special needs.
Dr. Dent's professional associations include Special Olympics, for which he is a Clinical Director for Texas and Louisiana, Pacific Dental Services Foundation advisory board member, and SME for Special Needs at the PDS Institute.
He is married to Jennifer, and has two kids, Jayden and Ethan. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, traveling, and doing DIY projects at home.
