Dam-It!  It's Easy! - Advanced Program (Hands-On Workshop)

This three hour, hands-on seminar is intended for those who possess basic dental dam application skills and wish to expand their usage of dam for more complicated isolations.  The progam presents a brief review of simplified application techniques that expedite dam placement such as the winged and modified techniques.  Advance techniques presented include guidelines to prevent dam leakage, clampless alternatives to retaining the dental dam, isolating structurally comprised teeth, and using a dental deam with fixed bridges and laminate veneers.  In addition, particpants apply dental dam to typodonts utilizing some of the advanced techniques discussed in the program.

Course Objectives:

• Describe and implement two techniques that expedite dental dam placement.
• Recognize how to prevent dental dam leaks and how to remedy the problem.
• List several options for retaining the dental dam.
• Describe and implement at least two techniques for isolation of areas that include fixed bridges.
