Orthopaedic Manual Therapy in Synovial Temporomandibular Joint Disc Pathology (Hands-On Demonstration)
Acute Temporomandibular disc subluxation are common pathological conditions with occlusal trauma or external mandibular trauma, that can be reduced and stabilized with a musculoskeletal approach. Chronic luxated disc without reduction needs a combined treatment approach dental and physical therapy. Symptoms are pain in the Temporomandibular joints and masticatory muscles, restricted mouth opening and joint sounds. Exercise therapy has been used for a long time to treat musculo skeletal disorders. It has shown its effectiveness in reducing pain and improving strength, endurance and functional capacities. OMT is also an effective treatment of Temporomandibular joints disc pathologies.
