The Periodontal Co-Therapist: Contemporary Periodontology for th RDH
Dental hygienists provide patient care as well as advising and educating patients on proposed treatment options and the treatment experience. This program will utilize photographic and radiographic documentation of various cases treated by surgical and non - surgical therapy. These cases will illustrate how contemporary periodontal therapy can be utilized to provide health and improved esthetics for patients. Scientific evidence supporting periodontal therapy in each clinical case will be examined
Course Objectives:
· Review the impact of non - surgical therapy on the subgingival biofilm.
· Compare treatment outcomes for Ultrasonic scaling versus hand scaling.
· Review advantages and limitations of locally delivered antibiotics/antimicrobials.
· Describe limitations of non - surgical debridement.
· Indications for surgical access for calculus removal.
