Dr. Karl R. Koerner

Effective Atraumatic Oral Surgery for the General Dentist

Dr. Koerner presents ideas and recommendations that will simplify oral surgery and broaden the range of surgery procedures performed in your office.  Special emphasis is on difficult extractions, multiple extractions, and moderate impactions.  Techniques are shared that will expedite the most stubborn extractions.  Along with that, Dr. Koerner discusses effective one-drug oral sedation and how to prevent and/or treat common complications such as bleeding problems, sinus perforations, infection, parasthesia and edema.  He takes the hype and confusion out of aesthetic bone grafts for extraction sites.  He clarifies current standards of care for surgery procedures common to general practice.

Objectives:

This course will enable the general dentist to:

  1.  Broaden the range of surgery procedures done in his/her office.

  2.  Better avoid or treat common surgical complications.

  3.  Do surgery procedures more quickly and more predictably than before the course.

  4.  More clearly understand surgical "standards of care" for today's dental practice.

  5.  Have a better grasp of what surgery procedures need to be referred.

  6.  Do socket bone grafts according to current, commonly used techniques.
