Orthodontic Extrusion: A Viable
Procedure to Achieve a More Predictable Esthetic Outcome in Implant
Dentistry
With so much
attention and devotion to esthetics, it is often painful that our esthetic
outcomes in implant dentistry are not consistent. It is well documented how

esthetic zone can be. Many techniques have been described to prevent these
problems. A simple technique is the manipulation of a hopeless tooth to take
advantage of the bone's ability to remodel. Orthodontic extrusion is a viable
way to improve the periodontal environment around a hopeless tooth, prior
to extraction and placement of an implant fixture. The technique and indications
for orthodontic extrusion in the esthetic zone will be addressed.
